Deaf Awareness Training


One in seven people in the UK suffers some form of hearing loss, including many of your vulnerable customers as well as staff members. We offer a broad range of services at very competitive rates to ensure your organisation is fulfilling it’s statutory duties under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) as well as meeting the needs of your customers and employees.

Consultancy
We are able to visit organisations and premises offering support and advice on how to meet the needs of those who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing covering areas such as:
• Legislation: Ensuring your organisation is meeting DDA and Health and Safety criteria
• Technology: What equipment may be required and where to obtain it
• Communication support: What it is, how to access it, and for which customers or staff

Training
Our training is tailored to meet the needs of your staff, and is available on a one to one basis, in small or large groups and at a location which best suits you, whether that be your own premises or elsewhere. We offer training such as:
• Telecoms (Minicom/Typetalk) Training: Ensuring staff are able to deal effectively on the telephone with hearing impaired customers keeping up to date with current etiquette Full/half day
• Deaf Awareness Training (DAT): Practical training enabling your staff to deal appropriately with customers and colleagues who have a hearing loss and in line with current disability and health and safety legislation. Full/half day
• Sign Language Lessons: Individually tailored courses so that your staff can learn vocabulary relevant to their workplace. Full/half day or shorter weekly sessions
